There has been an amazing response to #GreatRunSolo, with over 2,500 people joining the challenge in the first week, helping to raise over £20,000 for the NHS Charities Together COVID-19 Urgent Appeal.

Great Run Solo, launched by the Great Run Company on 4 May, is a virtual running challenge which aims to keep people motivated and moving at a time when running events across the country have been cancelled. With weekly and monthly challenges for adults ranging from 7k up to 280k, and kids challenges also, it’s a challenge that people of all ages and fitness can take part in. Plus everyone who completes the challenge will be rewarded with a unique #GreatRunSolo medal to celebrate their achievement.

The challenge costs £10 to join and ALL PROFITS go to the NHS Charities Together COVID-19 Urgent Appeal, which meets the immediate needs of patients, staff and volunteers affected by coronavirus.

Paul Foster, chief executive at The Great Run Company said: “We’re delighted that so many people have taken on the #GreatRunSolo challenge in week one and helped to raise a significant sum for this extremely worthy cause.

“The coronavirus outbreak has resulted in unprecedented challenges for the NHS, and every person who takes part is raising vital funds for the Appeal.

“We are keeping the challenge going for the foreseeable future with the aim of raising more for the NHS.
