Red Bull Quicksand Returns With Two Races In 2020

Looking for a new challenge in the new year? Red Bull Quicksand will return twice in 2020 as South Shields’ Sandhaven Beach will join Margate Beach in hosting standalone brutal one-mile sand races. Back for a third successive year in Margate, the year’s opening Red Bull Quicksand will be held on Saturday 30th of May, followed by the South Shield event that will take place on Saturday 15th of August.

The gruelling races will include all the same challenges that participants have come to love and loathe; including giant sandcastles, dunes and trenches. Red Bull Quicksand’s knockout format will see the top competitors from each randomly allocated heat advance to the semi final and from there the final.

Entries for both events are now open and as part of Red Bull’s New Year New Challenge, participants can pick up spots at discounted prices. From Wednesday 1st through to Monday 13th of January, early bird tickets will cost £30 for under 25’s and £35 for over 25’s. As part of the entry fee all runners will get entrance to the competitor area, a Red Bull Quicksand finisher medal and an event t-shirt. There will be 750 entries available to respective events.

2019 men’s winner, Lloyd Kempson has thrown down the gauntlet to anyone looking to take the crown off him in 2020.

“Red Bull Quicksand was by far the hardest mile I’ve ever run! I went into it thinking pure power and speed would propel me to a decent placing but quickly found out in the early rounds that you need to have a tactical approach. I can’t wait to defend the title in 2020.”
