There was more athletics action on Wednesday evening at the Irena Szewinska Memorial. This was a World Athletics Continental Tour Bronze event, in Bydgoszcz in Poland.

There were a few familiar British faces back out on the track fresh from success at the Diamond League meet in Monaco last Friday.

Reekie wins 1500m

Jemma Reekie, who ran a 2:31.11 PB in the 1000m in Monaco, stormed to victory in the 1500m in 4:09.01 ahead of Caterina Granz of Germany in second who finished in 4:11.19. Britons Amy Griffiths and Erin Wallace followed in a close fourth and fifth crossing the line in 4:12.38 and 4:12.57 respectively; a PB for wallace in the process.

Laura Muir was embattled in a very close run 800m race won by Noelie Yarigo of Benin in 2:00.01, with Poland’s Sofia Ennaoui in second place, 2:00.26, ahead of Muir in third crossing the line in 2:00.34. Britain’s Alex Bell followed Muir home in fourth place running 2:00.40.
