Speaker Line-Up for the National Running Show

Have you got a ticket for the National Running Show yet? It takes place at Birmingham’s NEC on 19th-20th January, so if you’re training for races in 2019 it could be an ideal opportunity to pick up lots of tips (and kit!).

There’s also a very impressive line-up of speakers at the event, with more being announced all the time. If you are going along we highly recommend spending some time at the stage.

There’s something for everybody on the speak programme. From the world of elite running, past and present, there’s Paula Radcliffe, Roger Black, Iwan Thomas, Jo Pavey, Mara Yamauchi, Andy Vernon, Paul Evans, Andrew Davies and Steve Vernon. If it’s inspiring personal stories you want to hear about there’s Rob Pope, the ‘real life Forest Gump’ who ran across the States, Steve Edwards, who’s run 820 marathons and counting, with 750 of them sub 3.30, and Rob Shenton, who’s battled PTSD and depression and finished some incredibly tough races to raise money for Help for Heroes. This is just a few of many personal stories you will hear.

Nell McAndrew, who has a marathon pb of 2.54 and is committed to encouraging others to run and exercise, will also be speaking. Vassos Alexander, whose running exploits seem to be getting more and more extreme (he’s gone from marathons to Dragon’s Back and Spartathlon) will also be well worth a listen. Coach Luke Tyburski will also be giving his top tips.

If it’s tips for fuelling your runs that you’re after Anita Bean, Alex Cook and Ruth McKean will be on hand to offer science-based advice and recommendations. Susie Chan and Ben Smith will be co-hosts on the speaker stage.

This is not a paywall. RUN247 is still free to read.

But if this line-up sounds interesting you had better be quick as over 32,500 tickets have already been sold for this innovative expo and it is on course to be a sell-out in its second year.

Mike Seaman, Director of Raccoon Events, commented:

“We are thrilled to welcome such a fantastic line-up of speakers for The National Running Show in 2019. The Main Stage was a key feature of the 2018 event, with a packed auditorium of visitors being thrilled and inspired by Olympic gold medallists, globetrotting adventurers and endurance runners. For 2019 we once again have a superb programme of speakers and panel sessions, covering all aspects of running and offering a unique opportunity for runners to see their running heroes. We can’t wait to welcome everyone under one roof for this superb celebration of running in the new year.”

The National Running Show takes place at Birmingham’s NEC on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th January, 2019. Go to nationalrunningshow.com for tickets and further details, like the Facebook page and follow @nationalrunshow #runshow19 on Twitter and Instagram.
